2002

Christ Nagar wins LAFEST 2002

Loyola's Best Quizzing Performance in 41 years
Jayendran Srinivasan and Varun Murali bagged the runner-up trophy in the National Level ESPN School Quiz hosted by Harsha Bhogle. Delhi Public School, Farakka emerged the winner. Earlier, Jayendran and Varun came first in the National Semi-Final, and Loyola was given Rs.2 lakhs to promote quizzing and develop sporting infrastructure.

2001

Aravind A secured Bronze Medal at the National Science Olympiad

Four teachers retired after years of dedicated service: Mrs.Mary Thomas (29 years), Mrs.Elaine Jobe (15 years), Mrs.Rajamma G Nair (20 years), Mr.C T Varkey (25 years).

Fr.Joye James took over as the Rector of Loyola Institutions.

The school introduced an extra division each in Stds. I and V. ISC Commerce was also introduced.

Computer aided learning and teaching at Loyola got a boost with the a new computer lab. To know more about IT@Loyola, get the December 2001 e-newsletter.

LAFEST (Loyola Arts Festival), the annual inter-school festival organised by +2 students, was won by St.Thomas. Loyolites do not participate.

Jayakrishnan (ISC 2001) secured the first rank in the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination.

The school magazine -- 'Loyolite 2001' -- had a 16-page section on Old Boys. Piece de resistance is the photo feature of Loyolite sons and their Old Boy fathers (in their younger versions!). The magazine also carries an e-interview with Fr.C P Varkey, a report of LOBA activities, and a 'conversation' with Old Boy parents. Alumni contributions this year include from Moni Mathews (1974), Sunil S (1989), Ben George (1990), Ranjith Panicker (1994), and Vivek Krishnan (1997).

2000

Anoop Shankar, Jian Johnson and Jayendran Srinivasan marked Loyola on the national quizzing map when they walked away with the winner's trophy in the All India Young World Quiz 2000 finals at Chennai in November, edging out Delhi Public School, New Delhi and Mothers International, New Delhi.

Fr.Varghese Anikuzhy SJ returned to Loyola as Principal, for 2000-2001. Fr. Joseph Edassery SJ returned to Loyola as Vice-Principal in 2000-01 after a long leave.

A Loyolite topped the ISC exams (March 2000) from Kerala.

'The Loyolite 2000' (school magazine), had 12 pages of alumni contributions. Responding to the call from Loyola, alumni wrote about their current work, recollections of school, and a message to juniors. Those who contributed were: Issac Francis (1968), Ramnath (1970), Jose George (1975), Suresh Kumar Aravind (1977), Suraj Jacob (1989), Anil Shaji, Manu G M, Rajkin G, Sony Joseph, Vijayaraghavan V (all 1991/1993), Cherian A Idicheria (1994 ISC), Sankara Subramanian P (1995 ISC), Deepak M (1994/1996), Vijay Abhijit, Deepu Chandy Thomas, Joseph John, Prathap. There were excerpts from 'LOBA News', and messages from the Association calling for more Loyolites to become members.

1998

Fr.Mathew Pulickal SJ, passed away at Kozhikode on November 3, 1998.
